about

I am an artist and a part-time Art & Design teacher from Edinburgh. I love teaching and enjoy making artwork in my studio when not looking after my children.

My creative direction is primarily driven by memory: making connections with people and places and the passage of time. My reflections on icons of childhood and passing ephemeral moments are observed and captured initially through photography; recording and abstracting.

On a formal level, I pay close attention to layering, surface qualities, line and texture with an interest in staining, sewn line, grain, printed surfaces, fabric weave, blurring edges and sharpening edges.  Using the stitched line I make connections / divisions between people and places – between subtlety and depth and between light and dark.

I am interested in sustainability and like to incorporate recycled materials in my work.
